Fire breaks out at Chattogram factory

A fire broke out in a jacket factory in Boalkhali on the outskirts of Chattogram city on Saturday afternoon, February 22.

The fire erupted on the fourth floor of Ebalan Garments near Kalurghat Bridge around 4:50pm, said Md Abdullah, deputy assistant director of Patia Fire Service.

Later, six units of the firefighters rushed to the spot and were working to bring the fire under control, he added.

He also said there remains no worker on the fourth floor and the ones working on the second and third floors got down immediately after the fire broke out.

Md Ibrahim, quality supervisor of the factory, said the fourth floor is used as a prayer hall. Some workers noticed smoke there after saying Asr prayers and informed the fire service.
