Khilgaon fire subdued, no casualties reported

A fierce blaze that erupted in the garage zone near Talatala intersection in Khilgaon was brought under control late Friday night, capping nearly two hours of intense firefighting.
The fire, reported at 7:30pm on February 21, sent plumes of smoke and panic through the densely packed area behind Khilgaon Police Station.
Three Fire Service and Civil Defence units raced to the scene by 7:35pm, launching efforts to contain the flames. As the fire spread through the tightly clustered vehicle garages, seven more units joined the fray. “We managed to bring it under control by 9:35pm,” said Anwarul Islam, media officer at Fire Service headquarters. “Rescue operations are now underway.”
The blaze’s rapid spread was fuelled by exploding gas cylinders, according to local residents, though the exact cause remains under investigation. No casualties or injuries have been confirmed. The fire’s glow and thick smoke, visible from afar, sparked alarm in Talatala, while a temporary power outage darkened the affected zone.
Authorities are probing the origin and assessing damages in the garage-heavy area, where proximity amplified the challenge. For now, Khilgaon breathes easier—but questions linger over what sparked the night’s chaos.
