The wild elephant named as ‘Banga Bahadur’ who came to Bangladesh from the Assam state of India, died early Tuesday.

The elephant became weak after it was tranquillized thrice and finally died.

Floodwaters carried the exhausted male elephant around 1,000 miles from upstream Kaziranga National Park in Assam of India before he became trapped in a swamp in Jamalpur district on June 28.

On August 4, a team of Indian specialists came to Bangladesh to rescue the elephant. The team tried to rescue the elephant from August 5 to 7 but failed. Members returned India on August 8.
