Home Affairs Adviser, Lieutenant General (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, has sought the cooperation of Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to eliminate corruption in the country.

He made the statement during a briefing following the session on public safety, security services, and agriculture at the Deputy Commissioners' Conference held on Tuesday at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka.

The Home Affairs Adviser said, "We had a great hope to reduce corruption in the country. Without eliminating corruption, the country cannot progress. Corruption must be reduced at all levels. For this, we have sought the cooperation of the Deputy Commissioners." He also added that proposals on how to further improve agriculture were discussed with the DCs, and suggestions were provided.

Regarding the law-and-order situation, which he described as "generally satisfactory," the Adviser noted that it is improving further. He mentioned that discussions were held on how to make further improvements, and instructions were given to make the situation even better.

When asked by journalists about the duration of the ongoing Operation Devil Hunt, the Home Affairs Adviser stated, "Operation Devil Hunt is ongoing to improve law and order. It will continue as long as the situation requires."

Also present at the briefing were the Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Khoda Box Chowdhury, and the Home Affairs Secretary, Nasimul Gani.
