Teenage gang hacks couple with machetes in Uttara

Two members of a teenage gang hacked a couple with machetes in Dhaka on Monday night. The victims were severely injured and were taken to a hospital for treatment.
The incident occurred around 9:00 pm on Road 9 in Sector 7 of Uttara. A video of the attack, showing the assailants attacking the couple with machetes, has gone viral on social media.
In the video, two young men are seen angrily attacking the couple with machetes. At one point, the woman is seen pleading for mercy with her hands folded, desperately trying to save her life. The incident has left residents of Uttara in fear.
According to local sources, the teenage gang members were riding motorcycles through the inner parts of Uttara, honking loudly and speeding. They attempted to run over a child while speeding. When the couple on another motorcycle protested, the gang members called for reinforcements and attacked them with machetes.
Eventually, locals managed to catch two members of the gang and handed them over to the police after giving them a beating.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Uttara West Police Station, Md Hafizur Rahman, told Jago News that the teenage gang members tried to run over a child while speeding and honking their motorcycles. The couple, riding a motorcycle nearby, protested the incident, leading to the gang members attacking them with machetes.
The OC confirmed that two individuals, Md Mobarak Hossain, 25, and Robi Roy, 22, were arrested in connection with the attack. Mobarak is from Sreebordi, Sherpur, and rents a place in the Tongi East area. Robi Roy is from Hazi Mazar, Tongi West. Further legal action is underway.
Local residents in Uttara have reported that the teenage gang members are regularly involved in robbery activities in various spots of Uttara and the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway, especially after dusk. They intentionally create conflicts with people, using weapons to steal mobile phones and wallets.
