5 killed as pickup-covered van collide in Feni

Five people lost their lives in a fatal collision between a covered van and a pickup truck in Feni’s Hafezia area on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway on Monday (February 17) evening.

Police and local sources reported that a covered van rear-ended a pickup truck carrying welding workers in the Hafezia Madrasa area on the Dhaka-bound lane of the highway. Five people were killed on the spot, while several others sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Feni General Hospital.

The identities of the deceased were not immediately known.

Mahipal Highway Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Harunur Rashid confirmed that the bodies have been recovered and sent to the Feni General Hospital morgue. Both vehicles have been taken into police custody.
