In the same case, the court has also granted a five-day remand for journalist Shakil Ahmed, the former news editor of Ekattor Television, and his wife, Farzana Rupa, the former chief reporter and presenter.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Ishtiaq granted the remand on Monday after a hearing. The accused were brought to the court from jail, where the investigating officer of the case requested a five-day remand for them.

Hasanul Haq Inu was arrested by a team from the Detective Branch (DB) from a house in Uttara, Dhaka, on August 26. Rashed Khan Menon was arrested from the Gulshan area of Dhaka on August 22. On August 21, Shakil Ahmed and Farzana Rupa were detained at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
