Youth injured in attack at Mozammel’s home dies

A young man, who suffered injuries in an attack by the local Awami League men at former Liberation War Affairs Minister Mozammel Haque’s home in Gazipur, has died at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, DMCH.

The victim, Abul Kashem, 20, died at the Intensive Care Unit, ICU, around 3:00pm on Wednesday, February 12, DMCH Police Camp in-charge Inspector Md Faruque confirmed.

Earlier, 15 individuals were injured in an attack carried out allegedly by the Awami League men in former minister Mozammel’s home in Gazipur city on February 7 night. 

Sources said after receiving news of an attack on the ancestral home of Mozammel in the Dhirasram area, supporters of the Anti-Discrimination Students Movement reached the site.

Upon their arrival, members of the Awami League, Juba League, and Chhatra League carried out a planned attack. As a result, 15 individuals were injured, five of whom sustained serious injuries and were transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
