Sheikh Helal’s personal assistant arrested at Shahjalal Airport

Former Member of Parliament Sheikh Helal Uddin's personal assistant, Hossain Mohammad Murad, also known as Sohel Murad, was arrested at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Tuesday night. He attempted to flee the country but was apprehended while attempting to board a flight.

Following his arrest, Murad was handed over to the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective (DB) Police by the airport law enforcement team.

DB’s Additional Police Commissioner, Rezaul Karim Mallik, confirmed the arrest to Jago News and stated that legal procedures are currently underway regarding Murad’s case.

According to sources, Murad served as Sheikh Helal’s cashier and amassed substantial wealth, totaling billions of taka, by leveraging Helal’s political influence. Businesspeople in Gulshan were reportedly intimidated by him. Murad acquired his wealth through tender manipulation, commission trading, and other illicit activities.

It has also emerged that, during the anti-discrimination student movement, Sohel Murad provided significant financial support for student killings.
