Educational institutions to get Islamic Foundation Book Corners

In a move to promote religious education and reading habits among students, the Islamic Foundation Bangladesh has decided to set up book corners in schools, madrasas, colleges, and universities across the country.
The decision was made during the 228th meeting of the Islamic Foundation Board of Governors, held on Tuesday (February 11) afternoon at Agargaon in the capital.
Chaired by Religious Affairs Adviser and board chairman AFM Khalid Hossain, the meeting outlined plans for the book corners, which will feature a range of Islamic literature published by the Islamic Foundation. Key genre will include siratun nabi, tafsir, fiqh , hadith, guides on Islam in daily life, biographies of Prophets and companions, as well as books on women's rights, drug prevention, and counter-terrorism.
The initiative aims to familiarise students with Islamic literature and cultivate a habit of reading religious books.
The meeting also approved a plan to utilise 171 acres of unused Islamic Foundation land in 10 districts for income-generating activities. The districts include Sirajganj, Bogura, Brahmanbaria, Gopalganj, Kushtia, Bandarban, Kurigram, Chapainawabganj, Bhola, and Panchagarh. A four-member committee, led by the Director General of the Islamic Foundation, has been formed to assess the feasibility of the project.
The board also discussed several other issues, including rationalising the honorarium for members of the National Moon-Sighting Committee, publishing a comprehensive list of books released by the Islamic Foundation, addressing promotion-related grievances of employees within the foundation, enhancing the overall dynamism and efficiency of the Islamic Foundation’s activities.
