Mahfuj urges focus on counter-hegemony, not idol destruction

Adviser Mahfuj Alam has stated that, instead of focusing on idol destruction, it is crucial to create counter-ideals, strength, and hegemony to confront the power of our enemies.

“We are not just confronting idols or buildings, but both regional and global imperialism. Rather than destroying idols, we must focus on creating counter-ideals, strength, and hegemony against the power of our enemies. We should shift away from destruction projects and prioritize building projects, day by day,” Mahfuj wrote on his Facebook account at 2:24 am on Thursday.

He continued, “The League or Hasina, in this context, serves as nothing more than an extension of regional imperialism. Regional imperialism is consolidating its hegemony through practical state-building, developing skilled human resources both domestically and in the diaspora, and strengthening state institutions. Our counter-hegemony will rely on these three factors.”

“After destruction, there is an opportunity to rebuild, but continuous destruction projects do not offer promising prospects for a better future. Building projects, however, can begin and be implemented quickly. You must remain active in these building efforts.”

He further wrote, “The implementation of proposals from the Reform Commission will begin soon. The rehabilitation of the injured and the families of the deceased, along with the ongoing trial of the July genocide, will gain momentum this month.”

Mahfuj added, “Abolishing the fascist system is not merely about destruction; it’s also about building alternatives. In the new arrangement, our focus will be more on building than on destroying.”

He continued, “P.S.: The promotion of Hasina’s statements and the ensuing political instability will ultimately be blamed on regional imperialism. Thus, it is crucial for us to cultivate creative power and adopt a visionary approach to counter this imperialism, without reacting emotionally. This struggle has only just begun. A resolution may not come for at least a decade, but our preparations are minimal.”

Mahfuj Alam emphasised, “Anger, frustration, and hatred are negative energies. However, after the uprising, we had an opportunity to transform this energy into something positive. That opportunity has not been lost yet. We need to harness our creative power for the long democratic and anti-imperialistic struggle that will likely last at least a decade.”

“Look to the future; history has given us a chance. We must win this time, and the only way to win is by building a vision for the state, strengthening institutions, and fostering skilled and dignified human resources. May Allah grant us insight and foresight,” concluded Adviser Mahfuj Alam.
