Inam Ahmed Chowdhury passes away

Former bureaucrat and member of the Advisory Council of the Bangladesh Awami League, Inam Ahmed Chowdhury, has passed away at the age of 87.
He suffered a heart attack at his residence in Banani, Dhaka, around 5:00 PM on Monday. He was rushed to a hospital, where on-duty doctors declared him dead.
His family members confirmed his passing.
Inam Ahmed was born on June 29, 1937, in Barokot village, Golapganj, Sylhet. After retiring from government service, he formally joined the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in 1999. During the BNP-Jamaat coalition government in 2001, he served as Chairman of the Privatization Commission with the rank of a state minister.
He was initially a member of the BNP Chairperson’s Advisory Council before being appointed Vice Chairman of the party.
However, just before the 11th National Parliamentary Election, on December 19, 2018, he joined the Awami League by presenting a bouquet of flowers to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. In the party’s 20th National Council, he was appointed as a member of the Advisory Council.
