Titumir students block road again at Mohakhali

The students of Government Titumir College blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway in Dhaka’s Mohakhali on Sunday evening, February 2, demanding university status of their college.
The students put up barricade on the road at Amtali crossing around 6:30pm, suspending vehicular movement and causing immense sufferings to the commuters.
They threatened to continue their movement until their demands are met.
Earlier this afternoon, Education Adviser Wahiduddin Mahmud told the media that the demand to transform Titumir College into a university is irrational and the matter is not being specially considered, too.
He said the interim government has no intention of elevating Titumir College to the status of an independent university, rather, it is working to establish a separate university with Dhaka’s seven government colleges, including Titumir College.
After the statement of education adviser, agitated students of the college announced a total blockade and then, they blocked the road in Mohakhali which they named ‘Barasat Barricade to North City’.
