7 college students call off programmes

Students from seven colleges have withdrawn their programmes of laying siege to the New Market police station and blocking Dhaka University buses from going past the colleges.
Student representatives from the seven colleges told the reporters after a meeting with Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, and Information and Broadcasting Adviser Nahid Islam at the Secretariat on Tuesday, January 28.
Dhaka College student Mainul Islam said the government is positive about their six-point demands, and of the demands, some which are possible to be fulfilled immediately have been met.
“We had announced that we will gherao the New Market Police station and not allow buses, including ones of Dhaka University, to operate through in front of the seven colleges after 24 hours. Now, we withdraw the programmes,” he said.
