One held with 35 gold bars at Dhaka airport
Customs officials arrested a young man and recovered 35 pieces of gold bars weighing four kilograms at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the capital on Sunday morning.
The arrestee was identified as Faisal Hasan,30, a resident of Chittagong district.
Joint Commissioner (Customs) S M Shohel Rahman said Faisal landed at the airport from a flight of Emirates Airlines, ‘EK582’, from Dubai around 8:00 am.
On secret information, customs officials challenged him while he was crossing the green channel of the airport at about 9:00am.
Later, the officials recovered the gold bars kept in Faisal’s shoe sole covered by surgical tape and arrested him.
The market value of the gold is Tk 2 crore.
