Renowned physician Subhagata Choudhury passed away at 8:00 am on Wednesday. He was also a well-known writer, having authored more than 50 books.

Subhagata served as an adviser to the Association of Nutritionists and Dietitians for Social Services (ANNDSS), which has expressed its condolences following his death.

Born in Sylhet in 1947, Subhagata pursued his education both in Bangladesh and abroad. He served as the Principal of Chittagong Medical College and as the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Chittagong University. He also conducted medical research at St. Thomas' Hospital in London.

Throughout his career, Subhagata traveled to numerous countries, including England, Germany, Singapore, Thailand, India, Pakistan, Malaysia, and West Africa, for research, training, and to present papers. His research focused on biochemistry, nutrition, and medical education.

He was a fellow of the New York Academy of Sciences and published more than 50 research papers in national and international medical journals. In recognition of his contributions to the field of medicine, he was honored with the Sher-e-Bangla National Award.
