No tension on India-Bangladesh border now: Home adviser
Home and Agriculture Adviser, Lieutenant General (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, has assured that there is no tension along the India-Bangladesh border.
Speaking at the Shaheed Shahabuddin Auditorium of Mymensingh City Corporation on Tuesday (January 14), the advisor stated, "The BSF is no longer constructing barbed wire fences, and the situation is stable. A Director General-level meeting between the BGB and BSF is scheduled for next month, where such matters will be discussed."
Addressing concerns about fertilizer shortages during the Boro season, the Agriculture Adviser said, "There is no shortage of fertilizer. If anyone attempts to create an artificial shortage, law enforcement agencies and the divisional administration have been instructed to take strict action. Dealers involved in such practices will have their dealerships revoked starting next month, without exception."
He further assured farmers, saying, "Farmers are the lifeblood of our country. They will receive fertilizer without fail and at a fair price."
Thanking journalists for their role in countering misinformation generated abroad, the adviser remarked, "Foreign media often disseminated contradictory news in the past. However, because you are reporting the truth, they can no longer spread propaganda."
Earlier in a view-exchange meeting with departmental officials at the same venue, Jahangir Alam Chowdhury emphasised the need for law enforcement agencies to strictly curb theft, robbery, and extortion.
He highlighted the growing menace of drugs in society and underscored the importance of strict legal action to control it, saying, "No one will be spared if they are involved in corruption or illegal activities."
