Fresh warning to illegal foreigners in Bangladesh

The Ministry of Home Affairs has once again warned foreign nationals residing illegally in Bangladesh to regularise their status within the stipulated timeframe.

In a notice issued on Tuesday, the government emphasised that those failing to obtain proper documentation by January 31, 2025, will face legal actions under the Foreigners Act of 1946.

The warning, signed by Khoda Baksh Chowdhury, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser, iterates the government's firm stance against illegal residency.

"Many foreign nationals are residing or working in Bangladesh without proper authorization. Those who do not comply with the requirements to acquire legal status by the deadline will be subject to punitive measures under the law," the notice stated.

This follows an earlier warning aimed at ensuring compliance and maintaining order regarding foreign residency in the country.
