The officer-in-charge of Shariatpur’s Zajira Police Station, Al Amin, was found dead inside the police station on Thursday.
District Superintendent of Police Nazrul Islam confirmed the incident, saying, “We recovered the body from a room in the police station building after receiving information. Initially, it appears to be a case of suicide, but the exact cause is not yet known. Further details will be confirmed following the autopsy.”
The police suspect suicide but emphasised that the precise circumstances of the incident will only be clear after the post-mortem examination.
