Hasnat insists Proclamation of July Revolution by Jan 15
The convener of the Anti-Discrimination Students’ Movement, Hasnat Abdullah, has iterated his call for the issuance of the ‘Proclamation of July revolution’ by January 15.
Mentioning that no visible steps have been taken by the government despite many days passed after December 31, he said, “We want the government declare the ‘Proclamation of July Revolution’ by January 15 as it has taken responsibility.”
He made the call during mass contact and leaflet distribution programmes by the Anti-Discrimination Students’ Movement, and Jatiya Nagarik Committee in Cumilla city on Wednesday afternoon, January 8, to raise awareness about the July proclamation.
Hasnat Abdullah said those who sacrificed their lives, and suffered injuries during the July-August mass uprising must be recognised in the proclamation of the government.
There must be a specific description of the historical continuity among 1947, 1971 and 2024 revolts in the proclamation, he said.
He also stated that the situation through which Bangladesh got rid of Awami fascism will have to be recognised and the participation of the political parties in the mass upheaval be acknowledged in the proclamation.
