8 trainee SIs dismissed for disciplinary breaches

The Bangladesh Police Academy in Sarada has dismissed eight more trainee Sub-Inspectors (SIs) on grounds of "disciplinary breaches."

The dismissal letters were handed to them at 8:00 pm on Wednesday, January 1. They were instructed to leave the academy by 9:00 pm that same night.

These eight SIs were issued show-cause notices on Sunday evening, December 29, for allegedly causing a commotion with loud noise in the field, disregarding instructions. The notice required them to provide an explanation within three working days, with a warning that failure to justify their actions would result in dismissal.

The dismissal letters were signed by Mohammad Tanvir Salehin, Superintendent of Police (Basic Training-2) on behalf of the Academy's Principal, Masudur Rahman Bhuiyan.

A total of 823 trainees from the 40th batch of Cadet SIs began their basic training at Sarada on November 4 of the previous year. Among them, 313 SIs were issued show-cause notices in three phases for disorderly conduct in the field and classrooms. Several of them have already been dismissed. On October 21, 252 were dismissed, on November 4, 58 were dismissed, and three were dismissed on November 18. Now, in a fourth phase, eight more have been dismissed after receiving show-cause notices for similar misconduct.

One of the dismissed SIs mentioned that the dismissal letters were handed to them after evening hours, and they were told to leave the police academy by 9:00 pm.

Earlier, the closing parade for 62 Assistant Police Superintendents of the 40th BCS Police Cadre was also canceled. These officers began their one-year foundational training on October 20, 2023, and the closing parade was initially scheduled for October 20. However, it was abruptly canceled the night before. The event was later rescheduled for November 24 but was again canceled.
