5 ministries lose no docs in Secretariat fire: Probe body

The high-level committee formed to probe into the fire at the Bangladesh Secretariat has said no documents of five ministries got damaged in the incident.

“Though it was suspected that documents were burnt in fire, it did not happen in reality,” the committee head and senior secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Nasimul Gani, said in a press conference at the State Guest House Jamuna in Dhaka on Tuesday evening, December 31.

“Fire did not reach the area where the records of the ministries are stored,” he added. 

The investigation committee members visited different ministries where fire broke, Nasimul Gani said, adding that each ministry is, however, looking into whether important documents are damaged in the blaze and separately assessing the amounts of losses.
