32 arrested in Habiganj

Police arrested 32 persons from different areas of Habiganj district on different charges during raids from Friday evening to Saturday.

Among the arrested persons, police arrested one Askar Ali, 26, from Habiganj sadar hospital while he was picking up a mobile phone set of a visitor at about 12.30pm.

Others present there caught him and handed him over to police.

Meanwhile Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested two drug peddles from near from bridge-2 of Habiganj town on Friday evening and recovered three kilograms (3-kg) of ganja from their possession.

Arrested drug peddlers are Afsar Miah, 50, son of late Amjad Ali of Mirashi village under Chunarughat upazila and Liton Dev, 28, son of Shismoni of Hatura village of the same upazila.

Besides, police in its regular drive arrested 29 persons including 23 absconding accused and 6 accused under police warrant from different areas of the district from Friday evening to Saturday morning.

All of them were sent to jail today.
