Drive against extortionists within a day or two: DMP chief

Mentioning that the commodity prices rise due to the extortion, Dhaka Metropolitan Police, DMP, Commissioner Sheikh Sajjad Ali on Saturday said preparing a list of the extortionists is going on and accordingly, they will begin operations to arrest them within a day or two.

He made the announcement in a view-exchange with students, and people of Ramna Model police station area at the Institution of Diploma Engineers at Kakrail in Dhaka this afternoon.

"The prices of the daily essentials are rising due to the extortion and as a result, low and middle income people suffer. Extortion should be stopped. Preparing a list of the extortionists is underway. Arrests will be made as per the list within a day or two," he said.

"If anyone commits extortion, they will not be spared," the DMP chief warned.
