Truck falls into river after Bailey Bridge collapses in Tongi
A truck fell into the Turag River after the Bailey Bridge collapsed in Gazipur's Tongi early Saturday, December 21.
The Gazipur Metropolitan Police, GMP, has urged people to use alternative routes.
Ibrahim Khan, deputy commissioner of GMP, said police went to the spot soon after receiving the information, and informed the Roads and Highways Department about the incident to take measures.
The Gazipur Metropolitan Police issued a traffic update on Facebook urging people to use alternative routes.
"Honourable passengers, the Mymensingh-bound lane of the Bailey Bridge at Tongi on the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway collapsed in the early hours of today. All passengers and vehicles travelling this route have been requested to avoid the Tongi bridge and use alternative Kamarpara Munnugate route," the traffic update reads.
