Entire production of Payra power plant closed

The entire production of the Payra 1320 MW Thermal Power Plant in Patuakhali’s Amtali has been closed for a week.

Shah Abdul Mawla, project officer of the plant, said second unit’s power generation was closed on November 9 for maintenance works, and yesterday (Monday), first unit’s (660 megawatts) production was shut down by the direction of Power Development Board, PDB, which will resume after a week.

Sources in the plant said the construction works of another 1320 MW power plant is underway in Patuakhali beside this one in Amtali which will start producing power in January on a trial basis. Production of this power station is closed for line in-out at its switching point.
