Fakhrul falls ill after paying tribute at National Memorial

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir fell ill after paying tribute at the National Memorial in Savar, Dhaka, on Monday morning.

He was preparing to speak to journalists after paying homage to the heroic martyrs of the Liberation War at around 10:30 am when he suddenly collapsed, feeling unwell. Party leaders and activists immediately rushed him to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Savar.

BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Dhaka District BNP General Secretary Nipun Roy, and other leaders and activists of the BNP and its affiliated organizations were present at the scene.

The party's Media Cell member Shairul Kabir Khan stated that Mirza Fakhrul was taken to CMH in Savar, where he is now in much better condition.

BNP Standing Committee members, including Professor Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, Salahuddin Ahmed, and Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel, accompanied him at the hospital, Shayrul added.
