University student stabbed by muggers dies

A private university student who was stabbed by muggers in Narayanganj on December 11 passed away on Saturday midnight while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Md Seemanto, a student at the American International University, was attacked by the muggers while returning home from the Narayanganj bus stand.

The deceased student’s uncle, Galib, said, "My nephew used to travel daily from Narayanganj to the American International University in Banani. On Wednesday, he got off at the Narayanganj bus stand from Dhaka. On his way home, the muggers demanded his phone. When he refused to give it to them, they stabbed him. After receiving the news, we first took him to a local hospital and then transferred him to DMCH, where he later died."

Inspector Md Faruk, in charge of the DMCH Police Camp, confirmed the death, stating that the body has been kept in the hospital's morgue.
