Shomi Kaiser gets bail in attempted murder case

The High Court has granted bail to actress and former president of the e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB), Shomi Kaiser, in a case related to the attempted murder of businessman Ishtiaq Mahmud.

The High Court bench, consisting of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Syed Enayet Hossain, issued the order on Tuesday.

Lawyer ABM Hamidul Mezbah represented Shomi in court.

Ishtiaq was allegedly attacked on July 18 during the anti-discrimination student movement. Following the attack, a case was filed with Uttara Purba police station on September 29. Shomi was arrested on November 6, and a Dhaka court sent her to jail after completing her remand on November 9.
