Bangladesh’s sovereignty not under any threat: Home adviser
Home Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has stated that Bangladesh's sovereignty is not under any threat.
"Our sovereignty is not under any threat," he said on Thursday while speaking to journalists at a programme marking the inauguration of International Volunteer Day at the Fire Service and Civil Defence Multipurpose Training Ground in Purbachal, Rupganj, Narayanganj.
The home adviser came down heavily on the Indian media for spreading propaganda against Bangladesh, saying that no other media in the world except Indian media can do it.
"You (Bangladeshi media) know, the Indian media are conducting propaganda against Bangladesh and you can give its befitting reply by publishing the truth," he said.
Jahangir said the nation in unison would denounce such propaganda.
"We all together will condemn it," he said.
About the national unity announced after the meetings of political parties with the chief adviser, he said this is a very positive sign.
"We will work together to solve any problem," he said.
Replying to another question regarding any concern over Bangladesh and India relations, he said there is no anxiety.
About West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's demand for deploying UN force in Bangladesh, he said she might mistakenly tell it.
But the real matter is that her country needs UN troops as minority groups are being repressed in India, the home adviser said.
Replying to another question, Jahangir said the law-and-order situation is now better compared to the state prevailed in the country after the August 5 last.
"It will take some more time for further improvement of the law and order," he said.
