DU Jagannath Hall students rally against Indian aggression

In protest of the attack on Bangladesh's Assistant High Commission in Agartala, India, and the assault by Indian extremists on several border areas of Bangladesh, a group of Dhaka University (DU) students staged a protest on campus on Monday night. Students from Jagannath Hall also participated in the demonstration, marching in solidarity.

The students of Jagannath Hall joined the protest rally at the Raju Sculpture around 9:30 pm. The march was led by students from the Hindu community.

During the protest, the students raised slogans such as, "Stop Indian Aggression," "Jagannath Hall is awake," and "Jagannath Hall will not tolerate border attacks."

Jagannath Hall student Joy Paul said, "We are Bangladeshis; that is our identity. Regardless of religion or caste, we are all Bangladeshis. There are conspiracies being plotted against Bangladesh, and we must stand against them. We are united on the question of sovereignty. Just as the Indian attack on Bangladesh's High Commission occurred, every citizen must protest against this. We will remain united to protect Bangladesh's sovereignty."

The march proceeded from the Hall Para area, passing in front of several residential halls, and ended at the Vice Chancellor’s area. Students from various halls participated in the march. Afterward, they held a rally at the VC's area.

During the rally, Jagannath Hall student Sarba Mitra said, "After 16 years, when Bangladesh has freed itself from Delhi's subjugation and stands tall, looking Delhi in the eye, Delhi's sleep has been disturbed."

He added, "Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and Christians of this country are all one. There will be no foreign agents in this country. If there are any agents, they will be agents of Bangladesh alone. We must unite and thwart the conspiracies of all foreign powers, including India."

Meanwhile, Bangladesh has expressed strong disapproval of the attack on its Assistant High Commission in Agartala, Tripura, India. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on Monday night condemning the incident.
