SC to hear review pleas over caretaker govt system on Jan 19

The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC) on Sunday set January 19 for hearing three review petitions seeking the restoration of the 13th Amendment to the Constitution and the reinstatement of the non-party caretaker government system.

A full bench of the Appellate Division, headed by Chief Justice Syed Refaat Ahmed, adjourned the hearing until January 19.

Lawyers Zainul Abedin, Sharif Bhuiyan, and Mohammad Shishir Manir were present in the courtroom for the petitions, while Attorney General Md Asaduzzaman represented the state, reports BSS.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Miah Golam Parwar, and the Secretary of the rights organization Shushashoner Jonno Nagorik, Badiul Alam Majumdar, filed the three review petitions. The three pleas will be heard concurrently.
