HC verdict in Aug 21 grenade attack cases Sunday

The High Court, HC, will pronounce its verdict on Sunday on appeal and death reference of the two cases over the August 21 grenade attack in 2004.

The cases – one is murder and another under the Explosive Substances Act – have been kept on serial 54 and 55 in Sunday’s cause list at the HC bench comprising Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Syed Enayet Hossain to deliver the judgement.

Earlier on November 21, the High Court kept the cases waiting for the pronouncement of verdict after a hearing.

The defence lawyers said those who have been named in the second chargesheet in the cases, this process is not acceptable legally.

On October 10, 2018, a lower court sentenced 19 people to death, 19 others to life-term imprisonment, and 11 others to different jail terms in the August 21 grenade attack cases.
