Asaduzzaman Noor, Tanvir face students' anger at BSMMU
Former Minister Asaduzzaman Noor and Tanvir Imam, son of Sheikh Hasina's former political adviser HT Imam, faced an attack by students during their visit to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) for treatment on Saturday afternoon (November 30).
While undergoing therapy at the BSMMU prison cell, injured students receiving treatment at the hospital identified them and began beating them indiscriminately, labelling them as "terrorists" and "student killers."
BSMMU Director Brigadier General Md Rezaur Rahman confirmed the incident to Jago News, saying that Noor did not sustain serious injuries but that his security has been increased.
The university proctor Dr Sheikh Farhad elaborated, explaining that tensions escalated when students undergoing therapy recognised Noor and Tanvir. "The students became angry, but the situation was brought under control by police and medical staff on duty," he said.
Asaduzzaman Noor was arrested on September 16 from Naoratan Colony on Bailey Road, while Tanvir Imam was detained on September 18 in the Gulshan area. Both are currently in custody, receiving treatment at the BSMMU prison cell.
