Abdul Hakim made new chairman of Press Council

The government has appointed retired High Court Division judge AKM Abdul Hakim as the new chairman of the Bangladesh Press Council. 

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification on Wednesday about his appointment in accordance with The Press Council Act, 1974. 

He will serve as chairman of the council for the next three years, starting from the date of joining, on the condition of resigning from other organizations, according to the notification. 

Earlier, on September 9, the government canceled the contractual appointment of Md Nizamul Haque as chairman of the council.
