Demo again in front of Prothom Alo office
As part of their campaign against the vernacular daily Prothom Alo, a group of people once again went out on demonstration in front of the newspaper's office at Karwan Bazar in Dhaka on Monday.
To prevent any untoward incidents, police and army personnel have been deployed around the area.
Speaking on the situation, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Tejgaon Division Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Ruhul Kabir Khan said, "Protesters have taken up positions again outside the Prothom Alo office. A significant number of police officers are present to ensure the situation remains under control."
When asked about the protesters' specific demands, the deputy commissioner admitted, "We are still unclear about their exact grievances."
The protests follow a tense day on Sunday (November 24), when demonstrators occupied the road outside Prothom Alo. Their actions disrupted traffic flow on Karwan Bazar, the largest wholesale kitchen market in the capital.
Despite repeated requests from law enforcement to vacate the road, the protesters refused, leading to a confrontation by evening.
Joint forces intervened to restore order, using tear gas shells and sound grenades. The clash left six police officers injured due to bricks thrown by protesters.
