Six platoons of the Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) have been deployed in the Jatrabari and Demra areas of Dhaka following clashes among students from Dr. Mahbubur Rahman Mollah College, Kabi Nazrul Government College, and Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College.

Md. Shariful Islam, Public Relations Officer at BGB headquarters, confirmed the deployment at 4:00 pm on Monday.

He said that six platoons of the BGB have been deployed in the Jatrabari and Demra areas to maintain law and order.

Earlier, in protest against the vandalism at Suhrawardy college and Kabi Nazrul college, students from both institutions declared a "Mega Monday" demonstration. As announced, hundreds of students from both colleges attacked Mollah College around 12:00 pm. Subsequently, violent clashes erupted between students from the three colleges, with local residents also getting involved.

According to witnesses and sources, today’s attack on Mollah college was in retaliation for an attack the previous day. Initially, the attackers faced no resistance, but the situation escalated into a violent confrontation when Mollah college students and local residents chased them. The clashes caused significant traffic disruption on the roads, leading to severe congestion on nearby streets.
