3 PSTU students hospitalised after ragging

Three first-year students of the Patuakhali Science and Technology University, PSTU, have been hospitalised after being ragged overnight allegedly by senior fellow students in a hall of residence.

The incident happened at M Keramat Ali Hall midnight past Saturday.

Seeking anonymity, a student of the 2023-24 session said some immediate seniors came to a mass room after 12:00 midnight and they physically and mentally tortured freshers there. As a result, three students fell sick.

Being informed, provost Dr Abdullah Al Mamun and assistant proctor Md Abdur Rahman went to the spot and caught red-handed two students while ragging and identified four others as accused of ragging.

In this regard, Vice-Chancellor Dr Quazi Rafiqul Islam said the authorities decided to expel seven students for ragging.
