Cold intensifies in Kurigram, temperature drops to 16.8°C
The cold and fog have intensified in Kurigram, blanketing large areas from midnight until 9:00 am. During this time, dense fog falls like drizzle, making the situation more challenging.
The minimum temperature in the district was recorded at 16.8°C at 7:00 am on Sunday (November 17).
The heavy fog has reduced visibility, forcing vehicles to use headlights even during the daytime. The combination of thick fog and dropping temperatures has significantly impacted day labourers and low-income individuals. Many are struggling to reach their workplaces on time due to the adverse weather conditions.
Mustafa, a resident of Kurigram municipality, said, “For the past few days, there has been heavy fog along with a noticeable chill. It’s already tough now, and winter hasn’t even fully arrived yet.”
Day labourer Ashtab Ali said, “The fog is slightly less today compared to yesterday, but in the morning, visibility is still so low that it’s hard to see the roads. For people like us who live hand-to-mouth, this weather makes life very difficult.”
Subal Chandra Sarkar, the officer-in-charge of the Rajarhat Weather Office in Kurigram, stated, “Over the past week, the region’s minimum temperature has fluctuated between 17°C and 21°C. However, the cold is expected to intensify further towards the end of November or early December.”
