8-month-old abducted during robbery in Azimpur rescued

An eight-month-old girl, abducted during a robbery at her home in Dhaka's Azimpur on Friday, has been rescued. A suspect has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Lieutenant Colonel Munim Ferdous, Director of the Legal and Media Wing of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), confirmed the development on Saturday morning.

He stated that the infant was rescued within 24 hours of her abduction. The suspect was apprehended by RAB in the Mohammadpur area. Further details will be disclosed at a press conference scheduled for Saturday afternoon.

Sources reported that during the robbery, the miscreants not only stole valuables but also abducted the child. Allegedly, a woman subletting a room in the house, along with several accomplices, orchestrated the crime on Friday morning (November 15).

The victim’s family claimed the miscreants took cash and gold ornaments before fleeing with the infant.

The infant’s mother, Farzana Akter, is employed as a stenographer in the Security Services Division of the Ministry of Home Affairs. She lives in a rented apartment near Lalbagh Tower in Azimpur. Her husband works in a private organization.
