Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus arrived in Baku, Azerbaijan, at 5:30pm on Monday (November 11) for a four-day state visit to attend the COP-29 global climate summit.

“A flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines carrying the Chief Adviser and his entourage departed Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 11am,” said CA's Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam.

Alam had earlier announced that the chief adviser would be visiting Azerbaijan from November 11 to 14 to participate in the summit.

During his stay, Prof. Yunus is expected to have a packed schedule, representing Bangladesh—a country particularly vulnerable to climate change. He will address various COP-29 forums, where he plans to highlight Bangladesh’s climate risks and advocate for the country's urgent demands in the face of climate challenges. He is also set to meet with several dignitaries attending the conference.

The COP-29 summit, hosted this year by Azerbaijan at Baku Stadium, is part of the annual UN-led climate gatherings, with the presidency rotating among five UN-recognized regions. Azerbaijan has a strong history of hosting international events, making Baku a fitting venue for this year’s climate conference.
