191 BGB platoons deployed in Dhaka, other parts of country
A total of 191 platoons of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have been deployed across the country, including the capital Dhaka, to maintain law and order.
Md Shariful Islam, the Public Relations Officer at the BGB headquarters, shared this information on Sunday morning (November 10).
Since the Awami League was ousted in the mass uprising on August 5, the party has not held any major public programmes. However, in observance of Shaheed Noor Hossain Day, they have called on their supporters to gather and march at Zero Point in Gulistan at 3:00 pm. The programme was announced through a post on the party’s official Facebook page.
In response, the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has declared its intention to oppose the Awami League’s program. Under the banner of the Anti-Fascism Resistance Platform, they have announced a programme at 12:00 pm today at Zero Point in Gulistan, Dhaka, titled "Public Gathering Demanding the Trial of the Fallen Autocratic Awami League." Reports indicate that students from the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement began gathering at the site the previous night.
Meanwhile, Shafiqul Alam, the Press Secretary to the Chief Adviser, referred to the Awami League as a fascist party in a Facebook post, stating that if they attempt to hold any gathering or march today, they will face strict action from law enforcement agencies.
