Mymensingh filling station fire: Death toll rises to 3
The death toll in the fire that broke out at the Azahar Filling Station in Mymensingh on Monday afternoon has risen to three, as one more person died on Tuesday morning.
The deceased, Tofazzol Hossain, 45, succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery.
Earlier on Monday evening, Abdul Quddus died while undergoing treatment at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital, while the private car driver, Himel, was found dead at the scene.
Two more fire victims are currently receiving treatment at the hospital, with four others in critical condition at the institute.
Safiqul Islam Khan, Officer-in-Charge of Mymensingh Kotwali Model Police Station, confirmed the new death to Jago News.
According to sources, during the incident, LPG gas was being unloaded from a tank lorry brought from Dhaka while, at the same time, gas was being filled into a private car a short distance away. Suddenly, a fire broke out due to a gas leak, resulting in seven vehicles being burned at the scene.
In response to the fire incident, a three-member investigation committee has been formed, led by Additional District Magistrate Lutfunahar Nahar.
