3 ministries asked to avoid usage of AC in winter

The government on Monday directed to avoid usage of air conditions (AC) in all offices, organizations and companies under the Power, Energy and Mineral Resources, Road Transport and Bridges and Railways ministries as much as possible during the upcoming winter season.

With fulfillment of the directives, it will be possible to increase supply of electricity for irrigation, fertilizer production and industrial sector, according to a power, energy and mineral resources statement.

It said the instruction was given to mitigate the ongoing shortage of energy and electricity supply.

Meanwhile, the government gave directives all ministries to take necessary measures to reduce electricity consumption by 25 percent, the statement said.

The Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Adviser sought everyone's cooperation in this regard, it added.
