In a significant show of commitment to its partnership with Bangladesh, the US Embassy’s Pacific Augmentation Team (PAT) has donated essential Swift Water Rescue and Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT) protection equipment to the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD).

The donation includes eight boats, 110 life vests, and a range of other rescue tools aimed at strengthening FSCD's ability to respond to natural disasters.

Additionally, the US provided 120 disposable coveralls and 100 medical bags designed to aid first responders in emergencies where hazardous substances could endanger health and safety.

This equipment is expected to enhance FSCD's operational readiness, enabling quicker and more efficient responses during emergencies, which will save lives across the country.

For over five years, the PAT and FSCD have worked together, conducting Medical First Responder Seminars and other training programs. The US Embassy remains committed to building resilience and investing in disaster response efforts in Bangladesh.

Megan Bouldin, Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy, emphasised, "This donation highlights our ongoing partnership and shared commitment to improving disaster response and saving lives."

The event was chaired by Brigadier General Muhammad Jahed Kamal, Director General of FSCD.
