Asif warns of bypassing ‘system’ to protect public interests

Asif Mahmud Sojib Bhuiyan, Adviser to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, hinted that the government may bypass the existing administrative framework if non-cooperation continues to hamper efforts, signaling a potential overhaul of recruitment processes.

Speaking at a meeting with district and divisional officials at the Chattogram Circuit House on Saturday, Asif stated, "If the current system proves ineffective, we may have to take more drastic steps, including discarding the existing recruitment processes for new hires."

He emphasised the government's unwavering commitment to addressing issues affecting citizens. "We will not compromise on matters involving public welfare," he declared, stressing the government's resolve to control rising commodity prices.

Asif voiced frustration over the lack of initiative from Chattogram officials to tackle this issue, calling for the identification and arrest of syndicates responsible for price hikes, potentially under the Special Powers Act.

Both Adviser Asif and Labor Secretary AHM Sofiquzzaman expressed dissatisfaction with the absence of representatives from key departments, including the Department of Livestock Services, at the meeting.

Earlier, Adviser Asif inspected the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium and the MA Aziz Stadium, where he expressed disappointment over the poor state of the facilities. Despite the ZAC Stadium regularly hosting international games, maintenance issues persist. Asif directed immediate action to resolve these problems.
