Former Joint Secretary of the National Parliament Secretariat AKMG Kibria Majumdar was detained by the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) while attempting to flee to India through the border in the Putiya area of Kasba Upazila, Brahmanbaria, on Saturday afternoon.

He is accused of being involved in various activities aimed at suppressing the anti-discrimination student movement.

Lt Col AM Jaber bin Jabbar, commander of the Sultanpur 60-BGB Battalion, stated that a person was seen roaming about 50 yards inside Bangladesh from Border Pillar 2050/8-S, trying to enter India. At that time, he was detained by the BGB patrol team. Upon interrogation, it was revealed that Kibria Majumdar had previously served as a joint secretary under former Speaker of Parliament Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury.

He further stated that Kibria Majumdar was attempting to enter India illegally without a passport. Efforts are underway to take legal action against him.
