A Dhaka court has summoned Tapashee Tabassum Urmi, an assistant commissioner (executive magistrate) at Lalmonirhat Deputy Commissioner's Office, for her adverse remarks about Abu Sayeed and others who were killed during the Anti-Discrimination Students Movement.

The court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain on Tuesday (October 8) asked Tapashee to appear before it on November 28 after taking into cognizance of a case against her.

Abu Hanif, media coordinator of Gono Odhikar Parishad, filed the case with the court today over her controversial comments about Abu Sayeed and the interim government’s Chief Adviser, Professor Muhammad Yunus, Md Khademul Islam, lawyer for the plaintiff, said.

Earlier, the government first made her an Officer on Special Duty, OSD, and later, suspended her for the comments.

Tapashee wrote on Facebook, “The chief adviser (Prof Yunus) of the interim government, which has no constitutional basis, said reset button has been pushed and pasts have been removed. He (Yunus) erased all the pasts and histories of the country clicking the reset button. Is it so easy! Your (Yunus) countdown has started.”

The assistant commissioner also gave several other posts taking stance in favour of the Awami League-led government ousted by the student-people mass uprising.
