BSF kills Bangladeshi on Cumilla border, takes body away
A Bangladeshi national, Kamal Hossain, 33, was shot and killed by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) near the Cumilla Sadar Dakshin Upazila border on Monday evening (October 7).
The incident occurred around 7:00pm in the Paharpur border area of Goliara South Union.
Lt Col Iftekhar Hossain, Commander of the 10 BGB Battalion in Cumilla, confirmed the incident to Jago News.
Kamal Hossain, a resident of Kuriapara village, was reportedly shot near the Jashpur BGB camp while approaching within 25 yards of the Indian border.
His elder brother, Hiron Mia, said that after being shot, Kamal’s body was taken away by BSF personnel in an Indian ambulance.
Lt Col Iftekhar Hossain further explained that efforts are underway to retrieve Kamal's body through a flag meeting scheduled for Tuesday (October 8) at 12:30pm.
An investigation has also been launched to determine why Kamal ventured into Indian territory.
