BGB detains 2 Indians along Rajshahi border
Members of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) have detained two Indian nationals at the Yusufpur border outpost in Charghat of Rajshahi.
The detainees, Ainal Haque, 55, son of Abdur Rahim, and Shoaib Nabi Sheikh, 40, son of Jerman Ali, both hail from Lalkup village in Murshidabad district, West Bengal.
According to Lt Col Matiul Islam Mondal, commander of BGB's 1st Battalion in Rajshahi, the two men crossed the Padma River and entered approximately 500 yards into Bangladeshi territory on Wednesday afternoon.
Following their detention, the individuals were handed over to Charghat Police Station for legal action.
Lt Col Matiul added that surveillance and patrolling along the Rajshahi border have been intensified to prevent illegal entries from India.
